Vacancy Notice No: HQ/12/HQ/FT397 Title: Coordinator Grade: P-6 Contract type: Fixed-Term Appointment Duration of contract: 2 years Application Deadline: 11 November 2012 Duty Station: Geneva, Switzerland Organization unit: HQ Headquarters (HQ) / HQ/HTM HIV/AIDS, TB and Neglected Tropical Diseases (HQ/HTM) UNITAID OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME : UNITAID's mission is to contribute to the scale-up of access to treatment for HIV/AIDs, malaria and tuberculosis for people in developing countries by leveraging quality drugs and diagnostics price reductions, and accelerating the pace at which they are made available. Description of duties: 1. Leads the development and evolution of the three portfolios through interaction with market dynamics, implementing and technical partners; 2. Leads and manages the Operations Unit through objective setting, work planning, budgeting, operational direction and coordination and ensuring delivery of the Operations Units deliverables; 3. Oversees development, design and implementation of projects/ grants including handling critical path issues in obtaining and measuring results; 4. Ensures smooth and effective implementation of projects to deliver the expected outcomes through effective management of the grants. Provides continuous guidance and oversight. Problem solve as needed; 5. Develops and maintains productive relationships with potential and existing implementing partners. Fosters and strengthens partnerships in order to leverage UNITAID's added value effectively and increase the impact of market interventions; 6. Coordinates and ensures that policies and standard operating procedures are relevant, updated and adhered to for expeditious, consistent and coherent grant development and management across portfolios; 7. Acts as Secretariat Focal Point for the Policy and Strategy Committee of the Board for Operations related matters; 8. Acts as a member of the senior management team and in particular participates and contributes to the development of UNITAID strategy; 9. Leads and manages the hiring, supervision, coaching and professional development of Operations staff; 10. Represents UNITAID appropriately at the request of Deputy Executive Director/Executive Director; 11. Ensures UNITAID develops a minimal strategic visibility in selected beneficiary countries; 12. Contributes/presents the information for communication of portfolio/project issues and in discussions with the donor community; 13. Performs other related duties as required by the Deputy and/or Executive Director. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Essential Advanced university degree in public health, health economics, public administration, business management, or any other relevant field. Desirable Training or studies in project management. Skills: Proven substantive track record in managing complex projects and grants. Excellent people management, guidance and coaching skills. Tact, judgement, diplomacy and integrity. Demonstrated skills to build, manage partnerships. Communication and presentation skills. WHO COMPETENCIES *1. Producing results *2. Experience: Essential More than 10 years' experience in a national/international context in senior, progressively responsible positions in the management of health programmes and projects including grant or loan management, monitoring and evaluation of projects. Experience in administration of agreements and in budget management. Experience in managing health programmes in a multi-country, multi-cultural environment in particular in the field of one or more of the three diseases: HIV, TB and/or malaria. Desirable Working experience in developing counties would be an asset. Languages: Excellent knowledge of English or French required, with working knowledge of the other.
