EUROPEAN ASYLUM SUPPORT OFFICE (EASO) ICT Officer (Contract Agent FG IV) REF.: EASO/2012/017 JOB DESCRIPTION Main responsibilities of the job holder: • Maintenance and support of the current EASO IT infrastructure; • Installing new physical and virtualized systems according to existing guidelines and best practices, producing and updating system and operational procedures and guidelines, planning, testing, evaluating and installing enhancements, updates, service packs and hot fixes; • Monitoring, analysing, consolidating and tuning of systems for optimal performance, designing and running system load/stress tests; • System administration of Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange server, VMware virtual machines, LINUX servers and surrounded services ( DHCP, DNS, Firewalls, proxy) • Responding appropriately to incidents/problems escalated by the Service/Help Desk; • Interfacing with vendors/contractors for the opening and follow up of cases; • Providing in-depth technical and design expertise in support of large, complex enterprise projects, assessing and recommending architectural designs/changes to existing systems; • Establishing system specifications according to projects needs and in accordance with the EU regulations. • Act as a backup for Help desk support. IT systems management • Conducting computer diagnostics to determine nature of problems, providing technical assistance and performing minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications; • Proposing purchase / renewal of hardware and software when needed, in compliance with the Commission policy; • Performing physical IT inventory scanning exercise. Eligibility criteria Candidates will be considered for the selection phase on the basis of the following criteria to be fulfilled by the deadline for applications: 1. A level of education that corresponds to completed university studies of at least 3 years attested by a diploma and, after having obtained the diploma, at least 1 year of appropriate professional experience. 2. Be nationals of a Member State of the European Union; 3. Be entitled to their full rights as citizens; 4. Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the applicable laws concerning military service; 5. Possess a good knowledge of one of the official EU languages and a satisfactory knowledge of a second of these languages to the extent necessary to perform his/her duties; 6. Meet the character requirements for the duties involved ; 7. Be physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post . Selection criteria Essential 1. Sound knowledge and proven professional experience of at least 3 years in the areas mentioned in Section 2; 2. Excellent written and oral command of English; 3. Expertise in installing, maintaining, updating, patching, scripting and monitoring Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and services in high available environments; 4. Experience with SAN Storage Technologies; 5. Excellent knowledge in virtualised environments; 6. Excellent knowledge in High Availability environments; 7. Excellent knowledge in MS Exchange 2010 Implementation and Administration; 8. Knowledge of scripting technologies like VBS, Powershell or other; 9. Knowledge in VMWare VSphere, MS Hyper-V. Advantageous 1. Knowledge of Microsoft certificates like: MCITP, MCSA or MCSE; VMware certificates like: VCPx-xxx or VCPDx-xx; 2. Experience with the following products: MS Hyper-V, MS Office Communication Server; 3. Very good knowledge of server security concepts like hardening, account security, SSL encryption and certificate handling; 4. Good knowledge in backup technologies and strategies; 5. Knowledge in implementation and maintenance of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server; 6. Knowledge in Linux/Apache/MySQL/PhP (LAMP) installations, support and tunning; 7. Professional experience in a position related to the aforementioned duties, preferably in a Member State Administration, European Institution, Agency or Body. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT He/she will be recruited as a temporary agent pursuant to Article 2(a) of the CEOS for a period of five years which may be renewed. The temporary agent post in question will be placed in Function Group IV. Successful candidates who are recruited will undergo an initial probation period of nine months. The place of employment is Valletta Harbour (Malta).
