OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
This is a partnership programme between the United Nations Agencies WHO, World Bank, UNFPA and UNICEF (UN H4) and the Canadian International Agency (CIDA). The objectives of the programme are;
To provide joint support for the national scale up of integrated Maternal, Newborn and Child Health/Reproductive Health (MNCH/RH) interventions in the 5 selected countries with focus on equity, through maximizing the coordination and synergies between the agencies;
To support the strengthening of national health systems from stewardship, implementation and monitoring of maternal, newborn and child health interventions in partnership with other agencies guided by the national health policies;
To provide support for data collection, analysis and documenting innovative approaches and evidence for adaptation and roll out nationally and to other countries.
Description of duties:
1.Follow up on the country's plan implementation and regularly inform the Regional Office and HQ on the implementation status and needs for technical assistance;
2.Support for correct and timely financial and technical reporting in respect to the guidelines;
3.Facilitate actions of circulating of information and updating on progress in the implementing countries;
4.Support monitoring and documentation of innovative approaches for MNCH in the context of the partnership programme;
5.Facilitate effective partnership with other UN Agencies and partners (UNICEF, UNFPA, World Bank, CIDA, UNAIDS) for effective Implementation of the programme;
6.Carry out any other assignments within his/her area of expertise in the MCH work in collaboration with IST, RO and HQ offices colleagues under the coordination of IST Coordinator and the direction of the HPR Cluster Director
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: Recognized Medical Degree with Postgraduate degree in Public Health preferably in MCH.
Desirable:
Experience in programme planning , implementing, monitoring and evaluation and training in Maternal, Newborn and Child health at national, regional and international levels.
Skills:
1.Technical and managerial competence in maternal, newborn and child health
2.Familiarity with the maternal, newborn and Child health situation in the African region particularly the challenges in high burden countries and cross cutting issues with the health systems
3.Ability to make a technical decision related to the implementation of maternal, newborn child health related interventions
Experience:
Essential: At least seven years in senior managerial and or in clinical practices
Desirable: Experience in international, national, district and primary health care systems
Languages:
Proficiency in spoken and written English or French and working knowledge of the other.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
US$ 67,483 at single rate
US$ 72,467 with primary dependants
