Background
Working in the EBRD Resident Office in Belgrade, Serbia, an Associate Banker is sought to operate in close coordination and under the direct supervision of Principal and Senior Bankers. The Associate Banker shall engage in equity and debt transactions in a wide range of corporate and infrastructural sectors. His/her duties will include preparation, appraisal and post investment management / monitoring.
Future development of role: the Associate Banker is expected to progress to more complex transactions processing activities, including leading transactions.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
Tasks as a project team member or operation leader will include: project screening, financial, technical, legal and environmental due diligence, structuring, negotiations, preparation of documentation and monitoring of projects
Monitoring of existing Bank investments; monitoring project implementation and operation, loan administration, preparing monitoring reports based on meetings with clients, site visits and financial reviews
Research and undertake credit, financial and economic analysis of mostly but non exclusively private sector projects including production of cash flow projections and in-depth analysis of financial statements provided by client companies or sectors including regulatory developments, market trends, peer comparisons, etc.
Draft specific assigned portions of Bank documents and correspondence
Financial modelling
Participate or lead project implementation, including administrative and analytical support in specific areas of project monitoring
Attend meetings with clients and counterparties
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Relevant degree from a leading university (e.g. business administration, economics, finance). An MBA degree would be considered preferential
Minimum 5 years work experience (e.g. banking, finance, accounting, audit or project finance) gained from a major commercial/investment bank, equity fund, advisory services or corporate finance firm
Credit analysis skills: ability to interpret accounts, understanding international accounting principles and practice of credit analysis
Proven analytical skills; strong numerical and financial skills, with ability to interpret financial information and to design and use financial models
Very good written and oral communication skills in English and fluency in Serbian/Croatian
Computer literacy: Conversant with Microsoft Office
Sound understanding of business principles
Work experience in project finance in emerging markets, including Eastern Europe will be an advantage.
