Job Title: ADMINISTRATOR (M/F) Institution: Committee of the Regions Reference: CDR-AD5-AD7-22-13 Directorate: Directorate Press, Communication, Events Unit/Service: Press, Internal and External Communication Function Group: AD Grade: AD5-AD7 Management: No Location: Brussels Deadline: 13/09/2013 12:00 Duties: Official in charge of performing the following tasks under the direct responsibility of the Head of Unit: Implementing the CoR's communication strategy, with a particular emphasis on the follow-up of the opinions and inter-institutional relations; Contributing to the units media relations activities including drafting of articles and press release, organising press conferences and inviting journalists to events; Preparing and launching the range of social media tools available (i.e. Facebook and Linkedin); Managing, overseeing and disseminating daily information on the Committee via the various different social media channels; Setting-up and coordinating an editorial board to provide content and information to be disseminated via social media; Attendance and reporting of meetings when required; Ad-hoc editing and proofing of texts in mother tongue; Researching and collating press clippings related to the CoR and its activities. Who can apply (eligibility criteria)? On the closing date for applications and without prejudice to the other provisions of Article 28 of the Staff Regulations, each applicant to a permanent position within the Committee of the Regions must prove that he/she meets the following conditions: · must be a national of one of the Member States of the European Union, unless an exception is granted by the appointing authority; · must be an established official or successful candidate in an EPSO competition for officials in the appropriate grade. Qualifications required: University degree in one of the following areas: law, political science, public administration, social sciences, economics, regional studies, communication, journalism or related areas; Good knowledge of the European institutions and policies in general; Thorough knowledge of an official language of the EU and a good knowledge of another official language. For operational reasons, an excellent knowledge of English is required. A very good command of German would be an asset; Knowledge (and possibly experience) of the role and competences of local and regional authorities as well as of the activities, functioning and political priorities of the CoR would be an asset; Good grasp of strategic communications and preferably political communications and media relations; Preferably experience of the application of social media strategies in a professional environment; Excellent understanding of the EU decision making process, in particular the passing of legislation at EU level (pre-legislative and legislative phase); Excellent organisational and coordination skills; Good analytical and excellent drafting skills; good communication, networking and negotiation skills; Dynamic personality with a sense of initiative on the basis of general directives; Good team player.
